DeWit products have a reputation of being sturdy, well crafted and designed, and made to last forever. This hand fork doesnít disappoint. The prongs are sturdy and go right down into the dirt, and allow you to tilt down on the fork to raise up the dirt and roots without bending. Very happy with the DeWit hand fork. Glad we bought it.
Really heavy, high quality feel. Love it. One note is that it rusts. I left it outside the night it rained, and it got speckled with rust spots (after about 20 hours of use; enough to sing any finish). Just reminds me that I still have to treat tools well!
I am a professional gardener and bought the "Dewit" and "Classic" hand fork at the same time to compare their quality. Though the Classic is a good sound hand fork that will serve you well for less than half the price of the Dewit, the Dewit is really well made hand tool. The handle feels great in my hand, and the tapered tines end at acute point the penetrates even tough soil fairly easily. Sure it is $20 as apposed to $7, but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for." If you take gardening seriously, then get serious about the tools you use. You deserve this fork!
Purchased four other tools by this company. They are all made to last. Really love this. Turned over all my large planters with this, and boy did it work great, just like all the tools I own from Dewitt.
Really love this fork. It seems to be made of a good and sturdy metal. I haven't tried digging out rocks so I don't know how that would work. I take care of it, drying it after it gets wet and not keeping it outside when it's not in use. It has a good feel in the hand. The tines are really sharp. I use it to dig iris, dig small plants for transplanting, weed, mix fertilizer and compost into the small raised beds, loosen the soil around the lettuces, and do other small garden jobs. One negative. . .it came in paper packaging only, with one of the sharp tines poking through which was a bit dangerous for the postal workers.
