I have had the Dewitt 3 Tyne Cultivator for 7 years but when I went to use it todayÖ..it was gone! I am ordering another today. This is my favorite and most used tool. I love to garden and this cultivator does an excellent job and would have lasted for many more years if it hadnít disappeared. Easy to handle and comfortable even when pounding apart our Arizona concrete/rock soil. The handle was as smooth as the day I bought it, no splinters or cracks. The tines looked new after 7 yearsÖ.
Just received the item and had to take it outside and try it out. I am 58 years old and have not the best strength in my hands. I also live in SC so my yard is mostly hard red clay. I did a few digs around my bushes and was very impressed with this little tool! It feels good in the hand and did a great job of pulling out the weeds. I think it will become a favorite and I would definitely purchase again. (I actually did just purchase the 5 tine:) )
This was a little higher priced than I was shopping for but Iím glad I decided to buy it. The tips are sharp enough and with the drop grip makes it so easy to use in my raised garden. Quality exceeds any hand tool I have purchased.
I just finished major hedge trimming, and I used this to collect the pieces of limbs. The wide metal hand-shaped rake pulled such a large bundle I could barely pick it up. Iím very impressed, and something else: the tines are sharpened almost to a point, then the points are cut off, so it didnít puncture my hoses under the leaves & twigs. Looking at out of the box, I was disappointed by the blunt tips, but theyíre sharp enough to dig and gather, yet the tips wonít poke holes in me or my equipment. Looks a little odd, but itís thoughtful design. Also, another reviewer mentioned the handle cross bar coming loose. Mine is secure, but would be easy to reglue or stabilize with a nail or screw. As it is, the handle grip has no screw bump to irritate my hand. Another design choice, I think.
The cultivator is light but very well made. I loosened the soil in the top 2-3î with it before planting small seed. I also covered the seed by using the cultivator. I am very pleased with this cultivator.
