As an avid gardener, I own five weeding tools. This one is the absolute best, and gets the roots out easily. I have owned one for a year and use it solely. I bought this one for my sister who says she canít figure out how to use it. ??. I watched a video to learn how. Highly recommend that once you watch an instructional video, you will only need this weeder.
I love this tool. I use it for everything for my yard and plants. We had weeks of rain, and the grass got thick & bad in my flower bed. This tool worked so well hoeing the dirt & lifting up the grass from below the roots all in 1 piece. I use it to churn up the soil in the garden all around the plants. It has a perfect weight for working with. I used it to cut out the sod from around a tree for a new flower bed. The ground was hard and packed, but the tool made short work of the sod. I then used the tool for planting the new plants. The angle of the blade is perfect. I thought it was too expensive for a long time; so, I kept passing it up. I received a gift certificate for my birthday, and I used it for this great tool.
I heard a lot of good reviews about this....but maybe I got one that was returned? It's not sharp at all.....it really doesn't cut much. It is good when I use the tip to help dig out the weeds, it's easier to use then a trowel because it's smaller so I can get exactly where I need to be. I was hoping that it would also help me cut thicker weeds but it's to dull. Maybe I misunderstood what this does.
We have several hand hoes and this is the best by a long shot. The angle of the blade is deeper so there is less wrist forst that needs to be applied and you get to use your arm strength to simply pull the hoe toward you. We have several of this style oftool and the dewit cape cod weeder is the only one that has the blade angle right. We have two now and are getting another so they are within reach wherever we are around the property.
My husband grabbed this tool and swears by it. I took it back and I find it extremely useful. It is my new 'go to' tool for getting out those fall weeds and that grass with such extensive roots that it seems to tie itself to the ground! I wouldn't be without it! It is heavy gauge steel that won't give - weeds don't have a chance.
