The photo used on amazon is incorrect. The carriage bolt that secures the handle is reversed and can't be changed. Customer service was very pleasant and explained that to secure the handle the bolt is put in opposite of picture. They suggested I can return or cover nut with plastic cap.
Like the shape and size, wish the blade was sharper to cut through soil- I will have professionally sharpened to make more useful
I've been wanting a shore spade for a while and decided to pick up the DeWitt. The cost is a bit high on their tools, but I could not find a cheaper alternative. It's good for working in garden beds at close range. It allow me to dig holes for plants as well as take care of some edge cleanup with the same tool.
This little shovel is perfect for gardening. The size is great for planting plants and small shrubs. It is also made really well and I am sure I will get many years of use out of it.
This spade is expensive but worth every penny. The craftsmanship is outstanding. It truly is hand crafted and made to last generations. You will be looking for excuses to use it! I bought it because I needed a small garden spade to use on a cemetery bed, and splurged because it was the size and shape I needed. I am so glad I did, even if I rarely use it, because it reminds you that fine craftsmanship is still available.
