This is a good and sturdy trowel which will last forever IF YOU DON'T LOSE IT SOMEWHERE IN THE GARDEN, which I did with the last one I'd had for decades. I wept when I couldn't find it, so hope this one will take its place. It is slightly narrower than my old one, but I like the point on it and the handle is good. I must just keep track of it!
A great hand spade for the garden. Forged construction gives it strength, the contoured wood handle makes it comfortable to use. and the sharpened edges make it easy to dig with. So far I haven't seen a downside. I would recommend and would buy again -- but unless I lose it, I probably won't have to replace it. A definite five stars.
The soil in Hawaii can get quite hard and even loose soil is filled with rocks. We've bent or broken so many "cheap" trowels. So, we decided to fork out some serious money and got this MONSTER. This thing is probably bullet proof. It is hefty, thick, and feels like you could bust up concrete. Wish I had bought one of these long ago.
I only used for a short time, small plot but clay soil. I clean it after every usage, and it still looking nice and new (can't say the same for their spare strangely). I do not have hard as rock soil or use it to bang in objects; thus, I can't vouch for it durability. It has a nice weight to it, so I highly suggest you left some weights and stretch out your arms to strength them or your arm will get a bit tired after 2 hours of digging. It is not cheap but if it lasts over a few year; it is worth it as it will be a heirloom collection.
I garden every day and like to have hand tools for the back yard and front yard. After breaking a hand trowel I bought at a big box store only 2 years ago, I looked for a replacement similar to the vintage trowel I inherited from my mother, which I think is 70 years old. This one is put together in the same way. I have only used it for a few days but think I will be using it the rest of my life. It feels sturdy in my hand.
