Although I did not use this for a tiki torch or something similar, I found it to be great for my drop rod on my gate. I am sure there are many other applications that you could use these for, one other option would be to hold the posts in place for our volley ball net.
Very nice product but the drill installer part doesn't hold up in rocky soil. Bit broke almost instantly. Luckily got the first one in deep enough when the bit broke. Works great on my flag pole but needed ten foot pole so flag didn't touch the ground.
I ordered this to use with an umbrella while camping. The construction is great and sturdy and the grip is large enough that you can really turn it hard while pressing it into the ground. The problem is that even with that force, you can't get this to go into ground that is compacted at all. There's a suggestion to wet the ground but that didn't work in our case. When we returned home, I tried it on our lawn and it worked well. I was able to get it in so that it was almost flush with the lawn. It did still take a bit of effort but I am realizing that this might be something you put in the ground and just leave for those times when you're pulling out your flag, umbrella, torch, etc.
Versatile and easy to install. Works well with tiki torches and flags. The drill chuck and sand anchor features add to its stability and usability.
It works as expected, although it is tough to get it into hard ground (mine has many small rocks and pebbles). An improvement would be holes near the top to insert a horizontal screwdriver to provide leverage.
