We bought this as a temporary fix after our previous tomato house was struck by a tornado and destroyed after 15 years of excellent performance. Right out of the box, the zipper on the door did not open all the way because of a defective tooth. Set up was not too difficult, but it does require two people to get the panels pushed apart enough to snap the poles together. Parts of the framing caved in repeatedly under minor breezes. Even with extra, heavy duty stakes that we bought separately, the bottoms of the frame poles pulled out of their tiny pockets and poked holes through the clear plastic. Finally, my husband went to work with some Gorilla tape and stabilized the frame. The company needs to re-engineer a bit and create longer sleeves for the poles to slip into. This would stabilize the entire structure better, prevent the partial cave-ins, and prevent the bottoms of the poles from lifting up and poking through the bubble. After my husbandís modifications, the bubble seems to be holding up much better. It looks like it will get our tomatoes through the rest of their season, another month or so. We just need something to take the edge off the cold summer/early fall nights in our area. If the company does some re-engineering and better quality control (e.g., zipper), they will have a decent product. Overall, we were not thrilled with this product for the price, but we made it work. We will be building a real greenhouse next spring.
We have a large PonyTail Palm and several other plants that live outdoors in the summer, (We live on the South Plains of West Texas) and every Fall they take part in the annual ìGreat Migrationî indoors before the first freeze. The pots are heavy and itís a tiresome endeavor as each Spring, back out they go....So.... We purchased our Haxnicks Large SunBubble after several weeks of researching and reading reviews on backyard greenhouses, primarily for cost and durability. The SunBubble is affordable, and the reviews are pretty good. And itís super cute!! We also purchased a ground cover from Amazon, the ì12-Foot Round Armor Shield Pool Liner Floor Padî (itís a durable felt) and it is being used as my ìbarefootiní padî inside the SunBubble. Itís almost a perfect fit. We found the SunBubble very easy to assemble and set up. It did take both of us to set it up though. The pvc material seems pretty durable, the zipper door seems pretty sturdy, and I anticipate several years of enjoying this SunBubble, and my plants are LOVING IT. I canít wait to enjoy this SunBubble on a cold, snowy night this winter! Btw, we did purchase additional heavy-duty ground stakes to secure the SunBubble as we can experience very heavy winds here in West Texas, with bursts in excess of 60-70 miles an hour. I bought 12, pounded them all in, and it will likely take a tornado to move that puppy. Speaking of puppies.... as you can see in the photo, my grandsonís dog, Billy, took a chunk outta the SunBubble door. Yes, I cried multitudinous tears. Then I sucked it up, took his ìPhoto of Shameî, and went and bought some waterproof tape (Flex Clear Heavy Duty Waterproof Tape) and critter fence (Rockdale Black Steel Fence Panel). I wish wish wish I had put the fence up right when we finished setting up the SunBubble. Hindsight ?? Anyhow, buy the Haxnicks SunBubble - Iíd bet youíll love it as much as I love mine!
This is a great little greenhouse particularly for the money. I have had mine since last fall. I kept all my small tree seedlings in there for the winter. We had a severely cold winter in Michigan but the greenhouse held up great. With just the sun heating it, mushrooms and some weeds grew on the ground the entire time. The air inside the greenhouse got cold but the ground never froze. On cold winter days when the sun was shining I would go sit out there with just a sweatshirt and it was great for the winter blues. I highly recommend the greenhouse. It held up very well with the snow and cold temperatures and I did not have any problems with the zipper.
I bought it, hoping it was more than a 3 star product. Because of there isn't anything else on the market like it. In my opinion, it's a 5. Simply for what the product does. It is heavy, but once you get it up and situated, who cares? We live in Oregon where it's cold and rainy all the time. We love the outdoors it helps us get out and enjoy nature! Just a little sun and it's super warm. My plants are happy and my family is happy! I love it! I am thinking of buying the smaller one right now to bring to the parks with us until it warms up a bit more. Also, I forgot to mention I've had it for over a year. I bought mine in February 2018, it was also cheaper then, not sure why the price went up so much.
I have both the large and the small. I use it to grow fig trees and veggies in the spring/fall. I was a little concerned about the wind blowing it away so I ditched the shorter included earth staples and bought extra long 12" staples. I put 2 staples at each tie down angled in opposite directions and a bunch right in the middle. If high winds are forecast I run a rope from the upper center handle down to the ground. For added integrity I also run a cable tie around every vertical fiberglass rod where the horizontal struts attach. The first time I set up the large one I had a hard time matching up top/bottom fiberglass rods. To me it was just not clear. Once set up, I used waterproof labels to number all the top/bottom vertical fiberglass rods. The only thing I don't like is it's not too useful during summer. With the door wide open and a fan inside blowing out my temps hit 125∞ - 130∞. Not the Sunbubble's fault, all greenhouses get hot in the summer.
